Between the Firat and Dicle rivers, the region called Mesopotamia is the birthplace of many nations and civilizations that had developed a fertile field that is entangled. Mardin, which is established on the top of a mountain is one of the oldest settlements in Upper Mesopotamia. It is a poetic city giving the impression that the time is stopped with its architectural, ethnographic, archaeological, historical and visual values. By its settlement in classical meaning since 4500 B.C. it is an important an open-air museum consisting of many structures of Subari, Sumerian, Akkadian, Babylonian, Mitani, Assyrians, Persians, Romans, Byzantines, Arabs, Seljuks, Artuqid and Ottoman periods.
